An Early 19th Century Primitive Oil on Canvas
A wonderful early 19th century primitive oil on canvas of a hunting scene. In the foreground, are two huntsmen with a group of hounds (having the most humorous faces), following another rider up an incline; the fox disappearing over the distant hilltop.
Contained in the original carved and moulded frame which retains the scrumble glaze finish.
Provenance - originally painted as the overmantle for a panelled room in a Bath townhouse.
