A Mid Eighteenth Century Cricket Table, Ash with An Oak Top

The slender turned legs terminating in an elegant toe are joined by three turned stretchers which conjoin in a large turned central “bulb”.

It is probable that the use of ash, together with the turned construction, indicates that the maker was a turner rather than a joiner, and possibly was more used to making chairs than executing complicated joints on cabinet furniture.
